A story from that collection, "Brokeback Mountain", which first appeared in The New Yorker, has been made into a feature film directed by Ang Lee; it premieres in December. She is at work on a memoir about building a house on what will become an avian preserve.

Richard Ford is the author of five novels, among them The Sportswriter and Independence Day, which won a Pulitzer Prize. His most recent book, the story collection A Multitude of Sins, includes several stories from The New Yorker. His novel The Lay of the Land, the third in the Frank Bascombe trilogy, will be published next year.
